The Lagos State Ministry of Education, has released the approved resumption dates, for all Public Primary and Secondary Schools in the State, in addition to Private Primary and Secondary Schools, for the 2020/2021 Academic Session.
According to Announcement that was approved by the Lagos State Government, Public and Private Schools (Primary and Secondary Schools), would resume as follow;
21st September, 2020 to Friday, 18th December, 2020.
4th January, 2021 to Friday, 16th April, 2021.
4th May, 2021 to Friday, 6th August, 2021.
Lagos State Schools Resumption Date
Public and Private Primary and Secondary Schools in the State (Lagos State), are instructed to adhere to the approved resumption dates, as well as have adequate safety and health plans, that would protect Staff and Student alike, after the reopening.
All Schools must comply with the laid down Covid-19 preventive measures, to ensure the safe reopening of Academic Activities, and to support the Lagos State Government Quest for full resumption.
Schools are also advised to have flexible teaching and learning plans, such that Students or Teachers that fall Ill, can learn and teach from “Home”, using diverse online platforms.
And in line with the Covid-19 preventive measures, Students and Teachers must wear face masks at all times, wash and sanitize their hands regularly, and comply with the social distancing instructions.
All Schools must have an Isolation bay, for handling Medical Emergencies, should anyone come up with Covid-19 symptoms, such as headache, difficulty in breathing, cough, sneezing, fever, and others.
The Government of Lagos State, has also rolled out measures, which include the online registration of Public and Private Schools (Primary and Secondary), with OEQA, taking a School Self-Risk Assessment, as well as undergoing an online training course, in order to obtain the reopening clearance for Academic Activities on the OEQA portal: www.oeqalagos.com.
The registration exercise will help the Office to determine the level of preparedness, as well as guide Schools on conditions for a safe reopening.
School Leaders are also advised to embrace new learning styles like platooning or alternative attendance, outdoor classes, staggered attendance, in collaboration with Parents, to promote a safe and secure environment.
