Chile Business VISA

Chile, aside the fact that it attracts Tourists, it’s also a country that Business activities booms. To this fact, the Chilean Government has set up a VISA type for interested Business persons, who wants to enter Chile for Business or engage in any Business-related activities, such as Business seminars, meetings, conferences etc.

The Chile Business VISA is a short stay VISA valid for the period of 90 days. It can be extended for another 90days when it expires.

Chile Business VISA is classified under Chile Tourist VISA. This however does not mean that you can use a Tourist VISA to enter Chile for Business purposes, the application procedures vary.

Who Is Eligible for The Chile Business VISA?

Almost everyone is eligible for the Chile Business VISA. If you are a National of a Country that has not reached the VISA-waiver agreement with Chile, then you must apply for the VISA.

In other words, if your Country is not exempted from the Chile short stay VISA, you will have to get a VISA before you enter Chile.

Who Is Exempted From Applying?

Several Foreign Nationals, such as citizens of EU Member States or the US, can travel to Chile without a VISA, granted that their stay does not exceed 90 days.

If you are a VISA-exempted National, you can travel to Chile without a VISA. When you arrive, the Immigration Officers will issue you with a Tourist Card (Tarjeta de Turismo), which states the days you are allowed to stay.

The Tarjeta de Turismo is on A5 paper format, and you must not lose it because you have to present it to the Immigration Officers, when you depart the Country.

Required Documents

Chilean Business VISA

There are several documents you will need for the VISA application.

All documents have to be in PDF format, expect the picture which must be JPEG.

Relevant documents include;

  1. Scanned copies of relevant pages on your passport (personal information, issue/expiry date, any previous VISAs etc.) Your passport has to be valid for at least another six months.
  2. Copy of your Flight itinerary.
  3. Proof of accommodation, such as hotel booking, for the entire duration of your stay.
  4. Proof of sufficient funds: Bank statements from the past three months.
  5. Passport-size picture of yourself which follows the following specifications:
    • Dimensions: 4.5 x 4.5 cm (2 inches x 2 inches)
    • Colored
    • Professionally taken in a studio
    • Taken in front of a plain white or off-white background
    • You must be wearing everyday clothes
    • You cannot wear glasses or any hats/headgear which cover your hair/hairline or face.
    • You must face the camera and have a neutral facial expression
    • Must be in JPEG format
  6. Letter of invitation, if applicable, containing the full name and address of inviting person/institution.
  7. A letter explaining the reasons you are travelling.

Take Note: The Chilean Authorities can ask for additional documents during the application process. This happens not to be all the documents required.

Be sure to include all the documents that are required on the online application. Your VISA application may be denied if any are missing.

How Do I Apply For The Chile Business VISA?

This is the most frequent asked question.

You have to apply for the VISA online through this website, https://tramites.minrel.gov.cl/ . then proceed to;

  1. Select the “VISA Application” option on the website’s main page. You will be redirected to the Chile VISA online application form.
  2. Fill in the information required regarding your Nationality, age, passport type, and details of your trip. You will receive a Verification Code which you can use to pause your application and go back to it later.
  3. Answer the questions in all the subsequent sections. Select “Save and continue” after you complete one section to move forward to the following one.
  4. Finally, in the last section, you must upload electronic copies of all the required documents.
  5. Submit the application and wait to hear from the Chilean consulate handling your VISA application.

You must obtain your VISA from the Chile Consulate that’s in charge of handling your application, if your VISA is approved.

You will be informed of the location, where you can obtain your VISA as you are applying online. The Chilean Consulate will contact you to set up an appointment, once your VISA is processed and approved.

You must have your passport with you, as well as the originals of all the required documents on the date of your appointment.

The VISA officials will review your documents and affix the VISA on your passport.

Note: You have 90 days to travel to Chile.

If there’s no Chilean Embassy or Consulate in your Home Country, you will have to travel to the nearest Chilean Diplomatic Mission in your neighboring Country.

Also, when you appear at the Chilean Consulate, you have to pay the Chile VISA fee. The VISA fee you have to pay depends on your Nationality, and can range from $50 to $150.

Can the Chile Business VISA be Extended?

Yes! You can extend your Chile Business VISA, by applying for the Business VISA extension at the Departamento de Extranjería del Ministerio del Interior (Department of Immigration of the Ministry of Interior Affairs), in your region.

To apply for the extension, you must have the following;

Photocopies of your passport’s relevant pages (personal information, issue/expiry date, the pages holding your Chile VISA stamp)

Your original passport

and a photocopy of your Tourism Card.

Take Note: You must apply for the extension before your current VISA expires, but it should not be earlier than 30 days.

Can I Work With The Business VISA?
